The Wardrobe: wear any look you've found

How the Wardrobe works in The Ember Depths v0.14.0: how looks are collected, which ones your hero can wear over their gear, and what stays the same.

Every piece of gear you pick up adds its look to your account's wardrobe, and the Wardrobe tab on the Hero sheet lets you wear any of them over what you have on. It's free and you can change it any time.

What counts as a look

  • The item type (Iron Helm, Plate Armor, Longsword…), its quality (iron, steel, mithril, adamant, dragonbone, starmetal) and its rarity trim are one look. A mithril Iron Helm and an iron one are two looks.
  • Uniques add their own signature look.
  • Helmets, chest armour, gloves, boots, cloaks, main-hand weapons and off-hands have looks; rings, amulets and belts don't show on your hero.
  • Everything you already owned when this update arrived is in your wardrobe: your bag, stash, every hero's gear and loadouts, and your sellswords' kit.

Wearing a look

  • Your class must be able to use the look's item (wizards can't wear plate, rangers keep their bows). Item level doesn't matter.
  • Something has to be equipped in that slot: the look sits over it.
  • Weapons keep their grip and kind: a one-handed melee weapon takes one-handed melee looks, a two-handed one two-handed looks, a bow bow looks. Off-hands keep theirs: shield over shield, quiver over quiver, focus over focus.
  • Pick Original to show the real item again, or Reset all.

What doesn't change

Looks are only how you're drawn. Your stats, unique powers, legendary effects and set bonuses always come from what you actually wear, and your party, the arena and anyone inspecting you see your looks.
