Cloud saves, backups and recovery codes

Your Ember Depths heroes are saved to the cloud automatically, with backups, a recovery code and device links, and no account or email needed.

Your heroes used to live in one browser. Clear its data and they were gone. Now every save is mirrored to the cloud in the background, with no account, no email and no password.

Offline first: the game plays from the copy on your device and syncs when it can.
Backups: the cloud keeps your latest save plus 5 backups; restore any of them from Settings → Cloud save & recovery.
Recovery code: write it down, and it brings your heroes back on any browser, even if this one is lost.
Link a device: a short link code moves your heroes to a phone, tablet or another computer.
Conflicts: if two devices disagree, the game asks which to keep, and backs up the other one first. Nothing is lost.
Restore from cloud on the title screen brings your heroes to a new device.

Hardcore note: a fallen hardcore hero stays fallen on every device. A backup won't bring them back.
